Athletes Don’t Need Steroids to Be Superstars!”

Physician Carlon Colker’s Book Offers ‘Sane’ Alternatives

As Bonds Controversy Continues, MD Decries ‘Freak Show’

Dear Colleague:

At a time when the use of performance-enhancing drugs has moved from “don’t ask, don’t tell” to center stage in most areas of professional athletics, competitive athletes who “juice,” and the fans who incite them to break each other’s records, are equally taken to task by respected physician and sports nutritionist Dr. Carlon Colker, MD, FACN.

A former champion bodybuilder, Dr. Colker has worked with countless high-ranking sports stars, including Andre Agassi and Shaquille O’Neill, both as their physician and trainer. Dr. Colker recently co-starred on the reality show “Shaq’s Big Challenge.” He has also just released an expanded (14 new chapters) Second Edition of his comprehensive book, Extreme Muscle Enhancement: Bodybuilding’s Most Powerful Techniques (Prosource Publications, 2007).

In it, he shows athletes and bodybuilders how to achieve their objectives, safely and naturally. He does not mince words and does not steer clear of controversy. His book provides a fascinating “inside scoop” on which drugs the pros are using, and the often-bizarre methods they use to “beat the tests.” He also has informed opinions on Barry Bonds, Chris Benoit and other athletes in the news.

“Steroids work. They will make you bigger, and they can add power to your swing, your punch, your drive,” candidly reports “Doc” Colker. “But the downside, one might even say the dark side, is too costly. Worse, it isn’t necessary. I challenge any athlete to stop his dangerous juicing or stacking and let me show him how to create an anabolic (muscle-building) environment naturally. There are many ways to become a champion without turning yourself into a human pincushion, as I have seen too many people do.”

“Steroids add power. The ball that used to hit the wall will go over the wall,” says Dr. Colker. “But you still need to have the skill to make that line drive. Babe Ruth was not on steroids. Neither was Hank Aaron. They had skill, they had concentration. They did not need to destroy their bodies, as so many young athletes are doing today.”

Dr. Colker says it pains him to watch ambitious athletes turn themselves into monstrous “Mr. Hydes” in order to get or stay on top, doing it for themselves but also for their managers, coaches, handlers and especially their fans. To help these misguided young (and not so young) men, Dr. Colker has gathered the latest information from his own practice and from the world of competitive bodybuilding, to offer intelligent, safe strategies for adding muscle through sports nutrition, “sane” supplementation, and custom workouts for various body types. Top bodybuilders and others have hailed his new book as “the best how-to book on the sport ever written.”

In the book, Dr. Colker also debunks many “myths” about nutrition and fitness. It’s a powerful, practical manual for bodybuilders and other athletes who want to build serious muscle mass and gain a competitive edge. It’s also an enjoyable read for the “Average Joe” who loves sports and wants a behind-the-scenes look at what really goes on.

Dr. Colker is based in Greenwich, Connecticut and is CEO and Medical Director of Peak Wellness, Inc. He is also the author of The Greenwich Diet and other books. He is a frequent contributor to Muscular Development Magazine, Muscle & Fitness, Ironman, Muscle Magazine, Body, Runner's World, Walking, Let's Live, Self, Strive, Men's Health, Men's Fitness, and Cosmopolitan.

It would be my pleasure to set up an interview for you with Dr. Colker. In the meantime, may I send you a copy of his new book? You may also want to visit his website, www.extrememuscleenhancement.net.
